Philosophy and Approach:
I believe that everyone can reach an optimum state of mental health. My approach to counseling is attachment theory based, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution focused therapy, EMDR, marital and family systems therapy, as well as utilizing other psycho-therapeutic methods as are appropriate for the client’s needs. Additionally, counseling can include didactic (teaching) or experiential use of scripture. I can approach counseling from an integration of theology and psychology, and I am capable and willing to approach your needs without the use of faith-based interventions. I will support you in finding a psychiatrist or medical professional if medication is needed.

Within the counseling relationship I provide a safe environment to best help each individual to reach their desired goals. I believe that we are all very complex, unique individuals who can benefit from a variety of interventions. The therapy process is thus highly tailored to the unique needs of each individual or family.

Together you and I will explore your current circumstances and your history in order to become clear about your personal goals and find ways to move toward achieving them.  I will encourage you in the further development of your problem-solving and relational skills; and shed light on patterns of thinking or acting that hinder you in accomplishing desired changes.
